چکیده

Litchi is affected by number of pests, among them litchi fruit borer (LFB), Conopomorpha sinensis Bradley (Lepidoptera: Gracillariidae) serious one which causes considerable yield loss. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy different options for management LFB. The research work was conducted in an orchard at Gopalpur under Tangail district Bangladesh consecutively two seasons manage LFB using mosquito net, types bags, three botanicals and five synthetic insecticides as spray material find out most efficient based on highest reduction infestation (RFI) over control along with benefit cost ratio (BCR). White butter paper bagging showed RFI (100%) 51.66% increase fresh (FF) BCR 7.47:1. Neem oil significantly effective (78.73%) 8.67:1. Novastar 56 EC (Bifenthrin+ Abamectin) chemical treatments recording 98.08 % 51.18 FF 6.06:1. Based BCR, performance could be ranked > Paper Novastar. So, safe technique, rate 6 ml/L water eco-friendly tactic @ 1 least harmful approach recommended protect from attack ensure higher fruits.

Phenolic profiles and antioxidant activity of litchi (Litchi Chinensis Sonn.) fruit pericarp from different commercially available cultivars.

Litchi fruit pericarp (LFP) contains significant amounts of phenolics which have been found to exhibit diverse biological activities. The purpose of this work was to determine the varietal differences in phenolic profiles and antioxidant activity of LFP from nine commercially available cultivars. The total phenolic and flavonoid contents ranged from 9.39 to 30.16 mg gallic acid equivalents/g fr...

Maintaining quality of litchi fruit with acidified calcium sulfate.

The effect of acidified calcium sulfate (ACS) on the quality of litchi ( Litchi chinensis Sonn. cv. 'Brewster') fruit after harvest was evaluated. ACS at 1.25% or higher concentrations significantly inhibited the activities of polyphenol oxidase and peroxidase in the pericarp during storage at both 5 and 10 degrees C. These treatments also effectively prevented browning and retained the red col...

Changes in phenolic compounds in Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn.) fruit during postharvest storage

Litchi (Litchi chinensis Sonn. cv. Huaizhi) fruit were stored at ambient temperature (20–25°C) for up to 7 days and at 4°C for up to 35 days for separation, purification and identification of individual phenolic compounds and investigation of their changes during postharvest storage. Results indicate that flavan-3-ol monomers and dimers were major phenolic compounds representing about 87.0% of ...

Nutritional Performance of the Tomato Fruit Borer, Helicoverpa armigera, on Different Tomato Cultivars

The development and cultivation of tomato cultivars that are resistant to the tomato fruit borer, Helicoverpa armigera (Hübner) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), are very limited in Iran and other parts of the world because of the lack of information about resistant tomato cultivars to minimize the use of insecticides. Therefore, the present study was carried out to identify alternative methods to chem...
